Falk Innovation Award 2025 – Celebrating Excellence in Swiss Medical Research

On January 22, 2026, the Falk Foundation Innovation Award 2025 was presented in Zurich. The award recognizes innovative Swiss research contributions in hepatology and gastroenterology.

The Innovation Award 2025 was presented to Dr. Janina Eden (formerly University Hospital Basel) for her HOPE REAL study on long-term outcomes after liver transplantation using hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE).

An Award That Opens Doors

The Innovation Award includes prize money of CHF 10,000 and an invitation to an international Falk Foundation symposium.

In doing so, the award not only promotes scientific excellence but also strengthens networking, visibility and exchange at an international level.

As part of the award ceremony, Dr. Janina Eden and Prof. José Oberholzer (University Hospital Zurich) also provided insights into current developments in transplantation and cell therapy through two scientific presentations – an inspiring overview of progress that is shaping the field in a lasting way.
